Jill + Jake’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love but also a beautiful way to honor Jill’s grandmother. The couple chose August 24, 2024, as their wedding date—a date Jill’s grandmother had picked out before they were even engaged. While Jill’s grandmother was sick, she often talked about the wedding date to distract herself, imagining the details and celebrating the excitement of what was to come. Though she passed away last June, her love and presence were felt deeply throughout the day. Jill + Jake’s choice to honor her with this special date added a layer of meaning that made their wedding truly unforgettable.

Their love story is as heartwarming as their wedding. Jake’s proposal was meticulously planned with the help of Jill’s brother and her now Matron of Honor, Katherine. On a trip to Charlotte for the USC vs. UNC football game, they stopped in Richmond to visit Jill’s brother. Jake and Patrick suggested taking the dogs for a walk, leading Jill to a secluded spot at a park where Katherine had already scoped out the perfect setting. When Jake got down on one knee, Jill was completely surprised—so much so that she didn’t believe it was real until Katherine popped out from her hiding spot! The surprises didn’t end there. When they arrived in Charlotte, a full engagement party was waiting to celebrate the couple.

Jill + Jake’s wedding day was a perfect reflection of their love and the close relationships they share with their families. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and the meaningful touches honoring Jill’s grandmother made the day even more special.
